Profile: Adam Warren

Kim Klement/US PresswireWith CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte out, Adam Warren will get his shot Friday against the White Sox.
Adam Warren, 24, will get the first shot to audition for Andy Pettitte's rotation spot, but he is still the longest shot. Freddy Garcia has pitched better this month and the Yankees love his track record. David Phelps was sent down to be groomed for this opportunity.

Still, Warren gets first crack Friday against the White Sox. So who is he exactly? Let's give you a little tale of the tape.

Triple-A record: 5-5, 3.86
Age: 24
Born: Aug. 25, 1987
Birthplace: Birmingham, AL
College: North Carolina
Height: 6-2
Weight: 225
Drafted: Fourth Round, 2009

The Skinny: Warren has always been considered a good prospect, but not on the level of Manny Banuelos and Dellin Betances. While the Killer B's struggle, Warren continues to pitch well. In 2008, he was drafted in the 36th round by the Cleveland Indians, but he chose to return to UNC for his senior season. arren is not a guy who has dominant stuff, but, if he is on his game, he profiles as a back-of-the-rotation starter who should be able to pitch well enough to get major league hitters out.
