Yanks prez: A-Rod gets too much blame
By Andrew Marchand
I just got off the phone with Yankees president Randy Levine. Here is what he said:
“I think that too much attention is put on Alex (Rodriguez),” Levine said. “The fact that we lost this was a total team effort, a total organization effort. To single out one person is not fair. At the end of the day, we as an organization lose as an organization. We are all in this together.”
Levine said it is too early to talk about major changes.
“It is way too early to talk about that,” Levine said. “There is a lot of time to talk about that. You can’t take away that this team did a lot of great things. We just had a total breakdown in the American League Championship Series. I want to congratulate the Detroit Tigers. There is plenty of time to decide what changes, if any changes, need to be made.”
Does he think this year is unacceptable?
“It is very disappointing the way the season ended,” Levine said. “It is a good season. We won 95 games. We made it to the American League Championship Series. Our motto is that if we don’t win the World Series, it is disappointing. All and all, it was exciting season, although it ended in a very disappointing way.”
