Thinking big, who would you trade?

By Andrew Marchand

I'm writing a Winter Meetings preview that will be up Sunday/Monday. In it, I'm going to examine how Brian Cashman could do something big. He always lays in the weeds and then strikes. I think this year may be no different.

Now, I want to make this very clear, I don't think he is definitely trading any of the following players. But all three -- Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson and Phil Hughes -- are free agents after next season.

I don't only think Hal Steinbrenner wants to fall under $189 million, I think he may have a disdain for these long-term deals (see Alex Rodriguez). Also, don't forget Cashman was against giving A-Rod his 10-year contract after A-Rod opted out, feeling the money could be better off spread out.

So again, I can't stress enough, I'm not saying the Yankees will trade Cano, Granderson or Hughes. But I do think they will, at least, listen.

So here is my question to you with the Winter Meetings about to kick off:

Who would consider trading -- Cano, Granderson or Hughes -- and why?
