Yankees headed to military school
By Wallace Matthews
Well, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, that is, for an exhibition game against the Army baseball team on Saturday, March 30, at 2 p.m., the Yankees' final preseason game before they open the regular season on Monday, April 1, against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.
It will be the 22nd time the two teams have met -- the first time was in 1927, with the Yankees' lineup boasting Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in a game that was called after 1-1/2 innings due to rain -- and the first since 1976. The Yankees have won all 21 previous meetings.
Tickets will go on sale in late February. Fans should visit GoArmySports.com sometime next month for information and pricing.
