First Pitch: Nothing can go wrong

By Andrew Marchand

TAMPA, Fla. -- My big takeway so far is this -- nothing can go wrong.

This could be a typical, 95-win season, but this Yankee team is not built for speed bumps. An injury to the big starters -- CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda or Andy Pettitte -- could derail them. Robinson Cano not being Robinson Cano or Derek Jeter not being the 2012 Derek Jeter could throw them off.

They are fragile. Last year, they lost Pettitte for an extended period, but it didn't matter because they had the offense to carry them. This year, I don't think that would be the case.

I'm not confident in Ichiro Suzuki taking over for Nick Swisher in right. At third, Kevin Youkilis looks slimmer, but he is a 120-game guy at this point in his career. Who is playing those other 40 games at third? Jayson Nix, Dan Johnson or Eduardo Nunez?

The bullpen should be good because I believe Mariano Rivera will be fine, while David Robertson and Joba Chamberlain form a strong setup combo.

If everything goes their way, then I would think there could be another 95 wins. But, you look around the clubhouse and you see a lot of question marks.

ON DECK:Wallace Matthews has you covered in the Yankees clubhouse. Doors swing open at 9:25 a.m.

QUESTION: Who would you have as Youkilis' backup?
