Teixeira hits for first time

By Andrew Marchand

Mark Teixeira, who has been out all year with a right wrist injury, took at-bats down in Tampa on Monday, making a return in June a stronger possiblity. Teixiera tweeted that he went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.

Felt good to get my first AB's since March. 1-2 with a double and a walk, I'll take it. #Yankees in first place, I'll take that too!

Before Monday, Teixeira had only taken batting practice. Teixeira will need a good amount of rehab at-bats from both the right and the left side, but he could come back in the next few weeks.

When he does, it will be interesting to see what becomes of Lyle Overbay.
