Manuel to Strasburg: Wait'll next year
By Wallace Matthews
Washington Nationals sensation Stephen Strasburg was left off the NL All-Star roster by manager Charlie Manuel, an announcement that is likely to satisfy Joe Girardi for more than the obvious reason of not having to face him. Asked before the game if he thought it would be fair to displace a deserving pitcher in order to include one with only six major league starts, Girardi said, "I think the all-Star game should be about the players who deserve to go. I know the fans get involved and vote, and they do a good job . . . and he is a great young talent, he has pitched very well in his six starts. But there's a lot of guy who've made 15, 16 starts. To me, that's what the All-Star Game is all about.''
