Remarkin' Clarkin agrees to deal
By Andrew Marchand
High schooler Ian Clarkin, the Yankees' final first round pick, has agreed to a deal with the Yankees, a source confirmed. Clarkin just needs to take a physical, and then the youngster who once disliked the Yankees will be wearing pinstripes.
Clarkin signed for slot money, meaning he got $1.651 million, which seems like life-altering cash. Clarkin said on a conference call after he was picked that he needed "life-changing money" to sign a deal.
Clarkin is a lefty with a good curveball and a low-90s fastball. His comments will be a fun little backstory if he ever makes it big in the Bronx.
