Private funeral now, public memorial later for Boss

The family of George Steinbrenner, who died Tuesday of a heart attack at 80, announced today that The Boss' funeral would be a private affair. A public memorial service is being planned and details will be announced next week.

Media outlets have reported that the funeral will likely be this weekend in Tampa, Fla.

The family also released a statement: "We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the many kind words of condolence. We have been deeply moved by the generous outpouring of love and affection for George."
