My colleague Andrew Marchand reported from Tampa on Alex Rodriguez's "simulated game" at George M. Steinbrenner Field, which was closed to the media and the public and about which no information was given. So after a request for details from ESPNNewYork.com, the Yankees' PR staff just sent out the following release:
"Earlier today at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla., 3B Alex Rodriguez participated in a simulated game in which he had six at-bats and saw 31 pitches (there were no fielders). Additionally, he took part in some simulated defensive situations and ran bases in simulated situations."
In other words, he took batting practice. Hopefully, we'll have more news later on where and when A-Rod plans to pretend playing baseball tomorrow.
