Girardi would like David Huff (16 IP, 2 ER in six games with New York) to give them distance in his first start as a Yankee, but who really knows what to expect of him. He’ll be on a pitch count of about 90-100. Girardi said Marshall is the long man, and the Yankees will just have to piece it together.
The bridge to Rivera was pretty much solidified when Girardi had all his relievers healthy. Now? Not so much.
Kelley said he didn’t feel anything during his bullpen. He thinks he could pitch Saturday, though Sunday is more likely. No corresponding roster move has been made for Miller.

• Girardi said it’s just a day off for Alex Rodriguez, given day game after night game. Eduardo Nunez gets the start at third base because he’s been swinging the bat well recently. Nunez is 6-for-12 with three RBIs in his last four games.
