Girardi voted AL's fourth-best manager

By Andrew Marchand

While you could argue that Joe Girardi deserved more respect in the AL Manager of the Year voting, the writers decided he did the fourth-best job in 2013.

In a system that awards five points for first place, three for second and one for third, Girardi finished with 11 points. He received no first place votes, two second-place votes and five third-place votes. The winner was Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona with 112 points. The Boston Red Sox John Farrell was second with 96 points, while the Oakland A's Bob Melvin was third with 36 points.

Girardi finished just ahead of Tampa's Joe Maddon, who had nine points.
