Derek Jeter made a living terrorizing the Twins, among other teams, throughout his illustrious career.

Minnesota fans hated when Jeter stepped to the plate, especially in the postseason, as he seemingly always came up in the clutch.

That disdain for Jeter, however, was always masked by a sense of respect for the way he played the game.

And it showed Saturday afternoon.

The Twins honored Jeter with a brief five-minute pregame ceremony before the third game of the four-game set at Target Field.

It started with a brief montage of Jeter moments shown on the big board and ended with Twins second baseman Brian Dozier presenting Jeter with the last-ever second base bag used at the Metrodome.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire spoke during the ceremony and called it an “honor” to compete against Jeter throughout his career. Paul Molitor also presented Jeter a $10,000 check for his foundation during the pregame festivities.

It was short and sweet ... and then it was back business for Jeter.
