Jeter should pass Yaz this week

By Andrew Marchand

Derek Jeter will take his farewell tour to Texas and Boston this week. Along the way, he should pass Carl Yastrzemski on the hits list. With just two more knocks, Jeter will tie Yastrzemski for seventh place all-time.

After Jeter passes Yaz, he will almost definitely be done moving up the list. Jeter will have 3,419 hits when ties Yaz. Next up, at sixth, is Tris Speaker, who has 3,514.

Update: There is a discrepancy about the amount of hits that Honus Wagner had. In ESPN's list, he finished with 3,415. The list provided by the Yankees in their notes has Wagner at 3,430, meaning Jeter could move past another player and into sixth on the all-time list.
