NEW YORK -- Robinson Cano said it best, the lack of Yankees at the All-Star festivities is "weird."

As Cano pointed out, there is no Derek Jeter, no Alex Rodriguez and no CC Sabathia. There are five Orioles in Queens (Chris Davis, J.J. Hardy, Adam Jones, Manny Machado and Chris Tillman). But just two Yankees (Mariano Rivera and Cano).

If Jeter were healthy, he probably would have won the fan voting at short. Hiroki Kuroda could have been an All-Star, and maybe should have been. Joe Girardi considered Brett Gardner an All-Star. Mark Teixeira might have made it, but then again he has only been on the team once (2009) in the last dozen years.

But this All-Star Game will still have a big Yankee feel, because when Rivera enters they should play "Enter Sandman" and there will be a celebration of his greatness. His teammates already have expressed how much he means to this game and how honored they are to share the moment with him.

Plus, Cano could have a special night after a disappointing Home Run Derby. But usually, All-Star night is filled with Yankees at every corner. That is not the case this Tuesday.

UP NOW: The blog is stacked. Just click on the banner at the top to hear about A-Rod's home run at Double-A, Cano's lack of long balls, Brian Cashman's updates on injuries and Rivera's All-Star teammates talking about his greatness. You will read quotes like this:

"Mo is the greatest to ever do it," Adam Jones said. "I got to watch first-hand Trevor Hoffman, being in San Diego, watch him close tons of games. But Mariano is doing it on the biggest stage in New York City. You don't get much better than Mariano Rivera.

"My last at-bat, I took him deep [for a go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth] That is probably my most memorable moment in my entire career unless I win a ring. That is the biggest home run so far."

ON DECK: The All-Star Game, which you can hear on ESPN Radio and watch on Fox. We will have scores of people on hand, as well as Ian Begley in Reading, Pa. with Rodriguez.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Does the lack of All-Stars signal a changing of the guard or is it just an aberration because of all the injuries?
