The 53-man roster

9/4/2010

The Jets made the final cut official Saturday afternoon, and unveiled the final 53-man roster followed by a conference call with general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Notable players who made the team were RB Danny Woodhead, RB Chauncey Washington and WR David Clowney. One of the bubble players will need to be cut after the fourth game of the season, when WR Santonio Holmes will return to the roster after serving a suspention for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

QB Erik Ainge and CB Darrelle Revis are on the Reserve/Did Not Report List.

A number of players were already cut on Friday, and some of those names leaked out. Here’s a sample of those: OLB Ricky Foley, WR Larry Taylor, C Robby Felix, G Chet Teofilo, FB Jason Davis, DE Jason Lamb, DT Martin Tevaseu, LB Boris Lee, LB Brashton Satele, LB Tim Knicky, S Emanuel Cook and S Keith Fitzhugh.

OL Michael Turkovich, DT Ty Steinkuhler, LB Boris Lee, DE Jason Lamb, WR Brooks Foster, T Dan Gay, LB Cory Reamer, DB Bo Smith and OL Chet Teofilo were cut.

On Thursday, coach Rex Ryan had said that LB Josh Mauga and S Donovan Warren, both of whom sustained concussions in training camp, wouldn’t make the team. The team also came to an injury settlement with Charlie Tanner, who hurt his knee.

Last week, the Jets cut WR Laveranues Coles, WR Marcus Henry, WR Aundrae Allison and DL Rod Wright to get the roster to 75.

The Jets can select players who pass through waivers to be on the practice squad.
