With Ken Oberkfell expected to be named the bench coach for Terry Collins on the major league staff, Oberkfell's former position as Triple-A Buffalo manager is expected to go to '86 Met Tim Teufel.
Teufel managed Double-A Binghamton last season.
It is not yet clear whether Wally Backman would jump all the way to Binghamton or be assigned to Class A St. Lucie, but the Double-A assignment would be logical.
Ex-Mets catcher Mike DiFelice, who managed Class A Kingsport the past two seasons, was not retained by the organization. 2010 St. Lucie manager Edgar Alfonzo also is out. Alfonzo subsequently joined the Astros organization.
