Will Jerry pay Austin this offseason?

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones provided an emphatic "yes" when asked Thursday whether he'd seen enough from wide receiver Miles Austin to offer him a long-term contract extension. Because of the potential of an uncapped 2010, Austin will likely be a restricted free agent again.

But Jones hasn't let the potential of an uncapped season or a 2011 lockout affect his negotiations with players to this point. He could certainly use all that as leverage, but I have a hunch that the Cowboys and Austin will eventually agree on a deal that pays him about $6 million per year. But Austin could easily have a signing bonus in the $20 million range. I think his agent will ask for more than that, but the Cowboys will point to the fact that Austin has only had one breakout season.

Could Austin be a one-hit wonder? I don't think so.
