Burress making progress

Just received my evening report from Albany, N.Y. It seems that wide receiver Plaxico Burress did some light running on the side for the first time this training camp. He has missed all 14 practices because of a sore ankle, which reportedly has nothing to do with his bruised ego from not getting a contract extension.

I'm not sure who the Giants are using at wide receiver right now -- other than Amani Toomer, who practiced this evening after sitting out the morning session. Steve Smith missed yet another practice with a sore groin and rookie Mario Manningham missed both practices with a quad injury. It's one thing for veterans such as Toomer and Burress to miss practices, but the Giants need to see improvement from Manningham and Smith. They can't see that while they're on the sideline.
