New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will talk with the Broncos about their head-coaching vacancy over dinner Saturday night, according to Foxsports.com. Spagnuolo became a popular candidate last season as the Giants made their Super Bowl run. He turned down the Redskins job, but you have to think he'd take a long look at the position in Denver.
Mike Shanahan, who was fired earlier this week, missed on several draft picks on the defensive side of the ball. Spagnuolo, who's turned the Giants into one of the best defenses in the league, would have to rebuild the Broncos' defense. But at least he wouldn't have to change schemes. According to Jay Glazer's report, Spagnuolo will not go through a formal interview with the Broncos because of time constraints. But it's not like the Broncos need several hours with Spagnuolo to realize that he's a top candidate. Denver will formally interview new Buccaneers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris on Monday. Morris just replaced longtime defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, who's leaving to join his son's staff at the University of Tennessee.
