Indoors on a beautiful day
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Hi there. This is your NFC North correspondent interloping on the NFC East and NFC West blogs.
Enough with the pleasantries. It's a beautiful and sunny 65-degree morning, unheard-of weather for a rough-and-tumble NFC Championship Game. Weather.com is predicting a high of 79 before the day is over. But unless there is a change in plans, this game will be played indoors with the retractable roof closed at University of Phoenix Stadium.
There are some legitimate reasons for this, especially from Arizona's side. Crowd noise should be significantly louder with the roof closed. And apparently there are sections in this stadium that face directly into the sun on bright, sunny days like this. Not good for fan relations.
But the Cardinals should know that crowd noise hardly affected Philadelphia this season. The Eagles' 13 false starts were the third-fewest among NFL teams this season. You wonder whether they would be more impacted by a near-80 degree day than they would be by a loud crowd.
