Random but compelling draft note

I was talking to a college scouting director from the AFC last night when he said something that made my ears perk up. I'd just finished giving him my Big 12 preview (could hear him taking notes) when he delivered the following statement:

"[Texas Tech sophomore wide receiver] Michael Crabtree is the second coming of Calvin Johnson. He's the absolute real deal."

As a freshman, Crabtree caught 134 passes for 1,962 yards and 22 touchdowns last season for the Red Raiders. The Big 12 is loaded this season, but no one is in Crabtree's class.

In the opinion of the scout, Crabtree will be a top 5 pick if he comes out after this season. (He redshirted his freshman season).

Update: Thanks to the commenter who politely reminded me that Crabtree is entering his third year of college. You guys are always on top of things and I appreciate that.
