Former Rams first-round pick Alex Barron isn't satisfied with being the backup at left and right tackle for the Dallas Cowboys. He's hoping to push Doug Free for the starting job.
"They expect me to come in and compete for a left tackle spot," Barron told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I'm going to give it my all and help the team the best way."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been steadfast in his support for Free taking over the left tackle spot, so I think Barron will initially be the swing tackle. But that doesn't preclude him from beating out Free or Marc Colombo at some point down the road. The Cowboys have had some success with reclamation projects.

Colombo, another former first-rounder, flamed out in Chicago due to injuries, but Bill Parcells salvaged his career. Leonard Davis never met expectations with the Cardinals, but he became one of the best guards in the league for the Cowboys. Barron will now have a shot to re-start his career.
