Perhaps the most talked-about fourth receiver in NFL history is prepared to report to Valley Ranch on Tuesday, according to ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon. Patrick Crayton will join the Cowboys for OTAs this week and then stick around for a mandatory minicamp this weekend. It sounds like someone from the club has gotten through to Crayton. Perhaps they've convinced him there's no way he's going to be released before training camp, as he'd requested recently on Dallas-Fort Worth's 103.3 FM ESPN.

For the record, I think Crayton should be ahead of Roy Williams on the depth chart. He's been more productive than Williams over the past two seasons, but then, Williams is guaranteed about $9 million more than Crayton. Here's what Crayton's agent, Fred Lyles, had to say about the receiver showing up tomorrow:

"Crayton is excited about the 2010 NFL season and accepts any decision[s] made by the Cowboys organization regarding his status with the team," Lyles told ESPNDallas.com. "He's looking to compete and we don't want to be a distraction."

We knew that Crayton was going to show up for the mandatory camp. Not totally sure why he's showing up a few days early.
