 Burress

DETROIT -- Moments after I settled into my seat at Ford Field for Saturday's NCAA tournament semifinal matchup between Michigan State and Connecticut, someone said that former Spartan (and Giant) Plaxico Burress was in the house. And sure enough, I bumped into the wide receiver in the concourse following the Spartans' win.

Wearing a green Michigan State hoodie, Burress laughed with friends and mugged for pictures. You might think he would avoid public appearances in light of his release from the Giants, but he seemed to thoroughly enjoy all the attention. When I asked him whether he thought he would play in '09, he smiled and put his hands out to indicate that he didn't know.

And when I asked how he felt about being released, he responded, "I feel great." He declined to answer some of my other questions, so that's all I have for you right now.

We may take another run at him Monday at the title game. By the way, Burress averaged 19.6 points, 13.2 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game his senior year in high school. In this video, he claims to be the best basketball player in the NFL. The statement obviously made quite an impact on Ian Eagle, who reaches over and touches Burress' shoulder.
