Ware compares himself to luxury car

Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware sounded a bit perturbed about his ongoing contract negotiations during a radio interview over the weekend, but he was pretty optimistic Wednesday. Dallas Morning News Cowboys beat writer Todd Archer caught up with Ware today at a photo shoot for Venom Energy drink. Knowing the Steelers recently gave linebacker James Harrison a $51 million deal with $20 million guaranteed and that Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth received $100 million with $41 million, Ware was asked what he deserved.

"I feel like it's somewhere in there," Ware said. "It's not 51. It might not be 100. It's somewhere between the two. Maybe it's 94."

He was obviously referring to his jersey number. Then Ware compared himself to a luxury car.

"I'm not frustrated because at the end of the day I know I can play," said Ware, who led the league with 20 sacks in 2008. "Like I say, I'm a Ferrari. The only thing I do is appreciate. It's on them to get it done."

You have to admire Ware's modesty in that last statement. Archer believes that Ware is definitely a better player than Haynesworth. Do you agree with him? I know Ware is younger than Haynesworth and his numbers are more eye-popping. But I'm not convinced that Ware is more valuable than Haynesworth. It's easy to point to all those sacks and give the edge to Ware, but in my mind, Haynesworth is a more disruptive player. An elite offensive tackle can handle Ware for a game. I don't think there's anyone in the league who can block Haynesworth one-on-one for an entire game. Curious to see what you think.
