Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will not play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Coach Andy Reid said earlier Monday that Vick's rib cartilage injury was "day-to-day, week-to-week," which was a typically vague timetable from him.
I don't think anyone who saw Vick moving around the locker room following Sunday's game is surprised to hear he'll miss at least one game. Kevin Kolb, who began the season as the starter, will receive most of the reps in practice this week. It will be interesting to see whether the Eagles bring in a veteran backup. It's hard to imagine rookie Mike Kafka being the No. 2 against the 49ers.
