The Washington Redskins have released former second-round pick Devin Thomas in only his third season. The former Michigan State wide receiver had shown flashes during his time with the Skins, but his penchant for getting injured and his maturity issues apparently forced Mike Shanahan's hand.
The Skins attempted to shop Thomas, but he hadn't accomplished enough to warrant much interest. Quarterback Jason Campbell and then Donovan McNabb both reached out to Thomas and encouraged him to have a more businesslike approach. Shanahan buried Thomas on the depth chart and he only played one snap on offense this season.
It's a huge indictment of Thomas that he couldn't stick on a roster that desperately needs a playmaker other than Santana Moss at receiver.
I assure you that Eagles GM Howie Roseman and coach Andy Reid will discuss Thomas because they don't have a lot of depth at that position. Will they sign him? I doubt it.
