Redskins' Bridges has charges dropped

Washington Redskins right tackle Jeremy Bridges has been cleared of two counts of simple assault and one count of communicating threats stemming from an incident at a North Carolina restaurant last December. Bridges was accused of spraying champagne on other patrons and having a dispute with a restaurant employee. Bridges was arrested on the charges the day before the Panthers played Tampa Bay.

Now he can focus on trying to win the starting right tackle position for the Redskins. Stephon Heyer has the inside track, but Bridges has more experience. The 29-year-old out of Southern Miss started four games in '08, and he still has pretty good athletic ability. The Redskins need to keep a close eye on him off the field, though.

Bridges was convicted of pointing a gun at a woman outside of a strip club in 2007. The incident occurred on the eve of training camp that season.
