It's that special time of the week where the Beast blog throws down its predictions for games involving NFC East teams. Our esteemed panelists have sent in their picks to ESPN.com, so let's get right to it:
Jacksonville Jaguars at Dallas Cowboys: All eight panelists picked the Cowboys to beat the Jags. It's either faith in Jon Kitna or complete disrespect for Jacksonville. Give me the latter scenario. I know Chris Mortensen was trying to talk himself into picking the Jaguars, but he couldn't quite pull the trigger. We're talking about two really bad football teams, but the Cowboys get the edge based on talent.
Mosley's pick: Cowboys 27, Jaguars 13: Kitna's going to torch these linebackers with his exquisite check-downs and handoffs to Felix Jones. I think the defense will actually stand up and play a little bit against David Garrard and his non-descript receiving corps.
Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions: OK, here we go. Chris Mortensen and Ron Jaworski obviously believe in Lions coach Jim Schwartz. I think this is an excellent upset pick for them to make. The Skins have four wins, but their offense has struggled mightily. Schwartz knows how to make an offense pay -- especially when it has a banged up line trying to protect Donovan McNabb.
Mosley's pick: Lions 20, Redskins 17: McNabb's in a bad place right now and I think the Lions will slow down Ryan Torain. The Skins desperately need this win, but something tells me the Lions will come into this game with a tremendous amount of confidence. I'm serious. Not only does Schwartz read this blog daily, but he's also an outstanding tactician. Let's watch what happens when two great coaching minds collide.
