Mike DiNovo/US PresswireEagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has apparently talked things over with coach Andy Reid.
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was saying all the right things Monday. He didn't exactly absolve DeSean Jackson for whatever the receiver did to earn a tongue-lashing from Andy Reid on Sunday evening, but he didn't condemn him either. Bob Ford of the Inquirer has a good column on the fiasco today.

Reid and Jackson met Monday and apparently worked through their issues. Jackson blew past reporters with his patented double move and Reid would only say that "what goes on in the locker room stays in the locker room."

"I will tell you this: I look at myself first when there's a loss," Reid told reporters after doing his weekly radio show. "And, I think, collectively that's how our players feel."

But there's no denying that whatever happened between Reid and Jackson could be a potential distraction leading up to an important game Thursday against the Houston Texans. Reid has always admired Jackson for his elite speed and playmaking ability. But in the aftermath of Sunday's loss, the coach felt like the wide receiver wasn't showing him enough respect. There were reports that Jackson wasn't mentally prepared for the game.

"I don't know where that comes from," Reid said on his radio show. "This guy is one of the top players in the National Football League. When it's clutch time, he wants the football."

If Jackson has a big game Thursday, a lot of this will likely blow over. But he has only caught seven passes for 76 yards in his past two games, so the frustration is mounting. Jackson feels like he has outperformed his current rookie contract, and he's right. Now he's worried that a down season could affect future negotiations.

I think Jackson is a good enough teammate that he'll eventually move on from this, but for now, the situation is still simmering.
