Donovan McNabb is planning to meet with the Washington Redskins once the season ends and ask for his release, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Even after he was benched by coach Mike Shanahan for the rest of the season, McNabb maintained that he wanted to be with the Redskins in 2011.
Now it appears that he'll ask for his release so that he can have some say in where he lands. But with some of the awful quarterback play going on around the league, the Redskins might think they can get something in return for McNabb. As Schefter points out, there's a $10 million option bonus that another team might have to pick up if it trades for the veteran quarterback.
But no matter what, it's hard to envision any scenario where McNabb returns to Washington.
