The hits just keep on coming for the New York Giants as they fight for their playoff lives. Coach Tom Coughlin revealed Wednesday that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks will likely miss Sunday's season finale in Washington because of a broken toe.
It's the latest in a string of setbacks, not the least of which was the Eagles' loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday night. The Giants needed the Eagles to stay in contention for the No. 2 playoff seed so that Chicago would take its "A" game into Green Bay on Sunday. The Bears still have an outside shot at the No. 1 seed, but they'll likely find out just before kickoff Sunday that Atlanta has clinched that spot.
The Giants will also be without starting center Shaun O'Hara (foot) in practice today. And there's a decent chance O'Hara will miss Sunday's game in Washington. O'Hara may very well be the first player voted into the Pro Bowl who's missed 10 of the 16 games. I'll try to do some research on that at a later date.
That's almost as bad as Derek Jeter winning a Gold Glove over Elvis Andrus this season. But not quite.
