Auburn quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton has arrived in San Diego, where he'll work with George Whitfield Jr. as he prepares for the NFL draft.

"I'm excited and Cam is excited to get to work," Whitfield told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. "We'll break it down, assess where he is physically, fundamentally, mentally, emotionally ... all of it."

Whitfield Jr. worked with Ben Roethlisberger during his four-game suspension by the league. The Washington Redskins will certainly be one of the teams watching Newton's every move this offseason. Coach Mike Shanahan will likely break down every throw Newton made in leading Auburn to a national championship. And the Redskins staff will have conversations with Newton's coaches at Florida, Blinn Junior College and Auburn.
