DeAngelo Hall could get his wish

So, because it's trash-talking week in the NFC East, with a pair of rivalry games on the schedule, players are saying lots of crazy stuff and it's getting lots of attention. Wednesday, Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said that, if Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo plays Monday night with broken ribs, and he (Hall) gets a chance, he'll try and hit Romo in the ribs.

Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com, with some help from the ESPN Stats & Information, thinks Hall could get his chance. Tim writes that the Redskins would be smart to blitz defensive backs on Monday night, since Romo is completing just 41.2 percent of his passes for a 5.4 yards-per-pass average this year when opponents send one or more defensive backs on a blitz. When no defensive backs blitz, Romo is at 69.2 percent and 11.4 yards per attempt. Washington's secondary coverage isn't the strength of its defense (even with safety LaRon Landry possibly returning from his hamstring injury this week), so their best defense against Romo beating them deep, if he plays, may be to blitz him from the secondary. As Tim notes:
The Redskins blitz defensive backs a lot anyway. They’ve done so on 23.2 percent of opponent drop-backs this season, which is the sixth-highest rate in the NFL, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

And then Mike Shanahan makes a joke in there about how they'll blitz him on every down if he plays and everybody I'm sure laughed nervously because you never really know about Shanahan because of those scary eyes.
