Just when you thought the Eagles couldn't have any more drama at the quarterback position, they've gone out and found a blast from the past in Jeff Garcia. With Donovan McNabb questionable for Sunday's game with a cracked rib, the Eagles have agreed to terms with Garcia, according to Adam Schefter. (Update: Eagles coach Andy Reid has confirmed the signing.)
And you thought the Eagles would simply bring in a body in case Kevin Kolb got hurt Sunday against the Saints? Nope, they're signing a player who replaced an injured McNabb in '06 and led the Eagles to a 5-1 record down the stretch and a playoff appearance.
Garcia spent '07 and 08 with Tampa Bay before signing with the Raiders this past offseason. And Garcia's not the type of quarterback who shows up and fades into the background. Now, the Eagles will have McNabb, Michael Vick and Garcia under the same roof. Nice.
Garcia certainly knows Andy Reid's offense and I think he'll be able to step in and be the backup Sunday. And yes, I think he's a better option than A.J. Feely even though he's signficantly older.
