Eagles turn back the clock with Trotter tryout

Has anyone seen Bobby Taylor lately? Troy Vincent? If you see either guy, tell them the Eagles are trying out old players at the NovaCare complex. Last week it was former right tackle Jon Runyan. On Thursday, Andy Reid turned back the clock three years and brought in former middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter for a workout. Trotter, who once left the flock for the hated Redskins, said the workout went really well.
"Going over today, I was nervous as heck," Trotter told WIP Radio, which happens to be his current employer. "I didn’t play all last year. When I was in Tampa, I really didn’t play. I practiced every day, but I didn’t play. It’s just like showcasing yourself. I was nervous. I knew I had put in good work this offseason. I had a trainer for a while. I trained with Sheldon [Brown] and [David] Akers and I feel really good. I’m not in football shape. That is going to take me getting out there on the field. For not playing for two years, I’m in pretty good shape. My body feels a lot better. Had surgery on my left calf. I feel really good. I felt explosive. I feel light. I feel like I got my quickness. It was confirmed and I got the feeling that it went really good."
Now, if you're wanting to impress an NFL team, I'm not sure you want to play up the fact that you've been training with the place-kicker. It seems like the Eagles would have to be pretty desperate to sign the 32-year-old Trotter. They cut ties with Trotter before the '07 season, causing Donovan McNabb to take a swipe at management for its lack of loyalty. Trotter's basically been away from the game for two years. I'd be shocked if he has anything left. But if he does, it would certainly be a popular signing. Trotter's was one of the club's most beloved players -- and he was a tremendous leader.
