So, Eli Manning is a top 100 player now

Remember last summer, when the lockout was on and we had nothing to talk about other than the NFL Network's top 100 players list and New York Giants fans were all outraged that Eli Manning wasn't even on it? Oh yeah, I remember that. Having to explain how it was the NFL's other players and not, for example, me and my colleagues in the media who made the list.

Well, it looks as though Manning's second Super Bowl MVP award has the makers of this year's list a little bit sheepish. I just got an e-mail press release about this year's top 100, and the headline is "Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning Makes His Debut."

Doesn't say where on the list Manning will appear, and the release doesn't name any of the other 99 players, which is once again voted on by NFL players and which the NFL Network will begin revealing on Saturday, April 28, a few hours after the end of the draft. But they just wanted us all to know that Manning is one of 39 new players on this year's list. So, duly noted.
