OXNARD, Calif. -- On my way to the airport. The NFC East blog just doesn't feel comfortable this far out west. Nice place. Great weather. But you know. I'm an Atlantic guy, not a Pacific one.

Anyway, yeah. The NFL season opener between the Cowboys and the Giants is exactly four weeks from tonight. Get. Excited.

In other news, links.

Dallas Cowboys

DeMarco Murray thinks he's a very good running back, and he plays with a chip on his shoulder. Calvin Watkins writes that the Cowboys need Murray to keep carrying that chip. They also need him to stay healthy.

The word on injured cornerback Mike Jenkins on Tuesday was that he's not had any setbacks in his recovery and the fact that he's still not cleared to practice isn't a surprise. Jenkins says he's aiming to get back in time for that Sept. 5 opener in East Rutherford.

New York Giants

This is from a couple of days ago, but it might serve to help answer those who have asked me about the proliferation of ACL injuries around the Giants the past couple of years. The New York Daily News looked into the issue and wonders if the Giants rush their guys back too quickly.

The Giants still need to figure out who's going to return the punts and the kicks. But the rest of the special teams unit has something it hasn't had in quite a while -- continuity.

Philadelphia Eagles

Tim MacManus runs down the list of dignitaries that attended the funeral Tuesday of Andy Reid's son Garrett and says the attendance of so many from so many places shows the level of respect Reid commands around the league.

With the Eagles set to begin their preseason schedule Thursday, John Roach looks at four undrafted rookies to watch. The list includes Damaris Johnson, who appears to have a line on a job in the return game.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins know their front seven on defense should be a strength of their team this year, and they're looking to do one thing in particular -- get more sacks.

John Keim's practice report (i.e., not his RG3 report) has interesting notes about Brandon Banks, Niles Paul, Santana Moss and a Brian Orakpo interception. You guys all know I was kidding yesterday about Keim and the cyborg thing, right? Because I wasn't sure.
