Now that the Cowboys-Giants opener is behind me, the next game I'll cover in person will be Sunday's game between the Washington Redskins and the Saints in New Orleans. This will of course be the debut of Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, for whom Washington traded three first-round picks and a second-round pick in this year's draft. In this week's Blogger Blitz video, I discuss the fact that we haven't yet seen much from Griffin. The Redskins intentionally designed a very vanilla preseason playbook so as not to tip anyone off to what they have planned for Griffin and his many talents. I'm looking forward to seeing how different this year's Redskins offense looks once they really get it humming.
Griffin doesn't have to get over a very high bar to win the hearts of Redskins fans, though. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Redskins quarterbacks have thrown 43 interceptions in the past two seasons, more than any other team in the league but one. They also have the seventh-worst completion percentage and the 11th-fewest passing touchdowns over that span. So while they obviously hope Griffin will eventually perform considerably better than that, it won't take much for him to be better, even by a little bit, right at the outset.
