The Giants didn't waste any time putting the Chiefs out of their misery in a 27-16 win. Eli Manning had an early fumble and a rare interception, but he bounced back to have a big day. Manning was 20-of-34 for 292 yards and three touchdowns, but the big news after the game was his injury.
He planted his right foot and felt something give. The Giants are calling it a "bruised heel" at this point, but Manning stayed in the game long enough to complete a 54-yard touchdown to rookie Hakeem Nicks on a screen pass.
Giants running back Brandon Jacobs didn't exactly tip-toe his way through the Chiefs defense in gaining 92 yards on 21 carries. The win also allowed the Giants to complete a three-game sweep on the road. It's something Tom Coughlin-led teams have done three times in the past -- and it's something he's quite proud of. Against a team like the Chiefs, Coughlin needed to conjure up some extra motivation. That's why he brought up last season's road loss to the Browns.
The Giants are obviously the class of the NFC East right now, although I'm looking forward to their first matchup with the Eagles. I don't see any way the Giants win less than 13 games at this point. And on Sunday, it was another huge day for Steve Smith. Who ever said this guy wasn't a No. 1 wide receiver?
He covered up for a really tough day by Mario Manningham, who had too many drops and seemed to lose his focus at times.
