Giants coach Tom Coughlin has informed reporters that quarterback Eli Manning will receive treatments on his injured foot (plantar fasciitis) today and not practice. He indicated that Manning wanted to take some snaps but the doctors and athletic trainers thought it would be more productive for him to sit this one out. Coughlin also said Manning would likely be a game-time situation for Sunday's matchup with the Raiders.

"When you say day to day, it's not only those feelings of how good he feels," said Coughlin. "Then, the doctors have to go along and tell us what they think he can do. He’s anxious. He wants to go out there and practice. He wants to go out there and take snaps, but this is the smarter move."
Obviously, David Carr will take all the snaps with the first team in Wednesday's practice. No word on whether the Giants will try to sign another quarterback for insurance heading into Sunday. You certainly don't want to enter the game with only one healthy quarterback. They have until Saturday at 4 p.m. ET to sign fifth-round pick Rhett Bomar off the practice squad. Of course, that would require them to release someone from the 53-man roster to make room for Bomar.
We'll keep you informed as this story continues to develop. I think Manning will do everything in his power to play against the Raiders -- especially since he's been told by doctors that playing on the injured foot wouldn't subject him to further injury.
