CANTON, Ohio – As a broadcaster, James Lofton gets paid to talk about players today. As a Hall of Fame wide receiver, Lofton knows what a good one looks like.
To Lofton, Dez Bryant is a good one with better days to come.
“You can look at the physical talent, the size, the speed and the strength, and after that you kind of throw in a little skill,” Lofton said. “When the guys get a little older and the skills and the physical tools start to diminish a little bit, then the savvy comes in and the smarts work into play. It’s a curve. Right now, he’s at his physical peak. If he can keep away from the little nicks that slow a person down during the course of a season, he’ll obviously be a phenomenal player.”
