PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has done a little more in practice each day this week. There remains a chance he will play Sunday in Tampa, but Nick Foles has taken first-team reps all week.
“We’ll see on Sunday,” Vick said. “Everyday, I’ve gotten better. It’s feeling 10 times better than it did yesterday.”
Coach Chip Kelly said he could make the decision at “12:59” for Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET game. Vick has experience and knows the game plan. It will be purely a medical decision, Kelly said.
“We're never going to put him in harm's way and we're always going to do what's best for the team,” Kelly said. “The good thing is we still have three full days. We've got Thursday, Friday and Saturday of training to really get a full evaluation of where we are with this whole thing.”
Vick said he would defer to the training staff, but also said it was important for an injury like this to be close to 100 percent healed. Otherwise, he runs the risk of making it worse and missing considerably more time.
“I’m making sure I’m being smart about it,” Vick said.
If he can’t play in Tampa, Vick said, he feels confident he’s on track to be ready for the following week’s game against Dallas.
“I’m progressing every day,” Vick said. "...I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow."
In other injury updates, safety Patrick Chung (shoulder) was a full participant in practice and expects to be available Sunday. Cornerback Brandon Boykin said he tweaked his groin muscle in practice Wednesday but was fine Thursday.
