If you were on Twitter on Tuesday night and you follow New York Giants wide receiver Rueben Randle and running back David Wilson, you likely saw the two of them going back and forth insulting each other. Since some of my own Twitter followers have asked whether I thought it was in jest, I feel compelled to say that yes, it was quite obviously in jest, as the two second-year Giants are good friends who were blowing off steam by pretending to insult each other with the things angry fans have been saying to them.
They appear to have gone back and erased many of the tweets, which is a shame because that means we can't link to them, but the highlight exchange was when Wilson told Randle to "get off Twitter and get in your play book u bum" and Randle responded that he'd tell Wilson the same except that he'd probably fumble it.
Later, Wilson (@4stillrunning) tweeted this:
On a serious note me, @RuebenRandle and THE GIANTS love the game and winning We make mistakes but know we always play hard for the Team/Fans
— David E. Wilson (@4stillRunning) October 16, 2013
Which is a shame, that we live in a day and age where common sense can't rule and everything has to be spelled out for everyone, but that's the way it goes. I found the whole thing entertaining, and ideally most of you did, too. It's obviously a rough year for the Giants, and for Wilson especially. Tough to begrudge him a little fun with his buddy.
