IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware missed the past two days of practice and is not sure he will be able to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

Ware missed the first game of his career Sunday at Philadelphia because of a strained quadriceps, ending a streak of 134 games in a row. He has done resistance training the past two days but is not likely to practice Friday. He will make the trip with the team to Detroit.

“There are some things I can and can’t do,” Ware said. “For the most part, I see progress.”

Ware has to be able to test the strength of his leg before getting back on the field. He started running on Monday and picked up his work on Wednesday and Thursday.

If Ware can’t play, Kyle Wilber would make his second straight start. He was credited with one tackle in the win against the Eagles. Ware said he had his “coaching hat” on last week, helping Wilber and the other defensive ends during the game.

“It was OK,” Ware said. “I’d rather be playing.”
