Watching last night's World Series game being played in a driving rainstorm brought back memories of some weather-related issues with NFC East teams. The Ice Bowl between the Cowboys and Packers showcased perhaps the most extreme conditions in league history.
But as I watched the Phillies and Rays get drenched, it was the Fog Bowl that came to mind. The 1988 Divisional playoff game between the Bears and Eagles was played in a heavy fog that made visibility at Soldier Field almost impossible. The TV networks actually root for poor weather that time of the year because it produces huge ratings. But I remember barely being able to follow the action in that game. The Bears won, 20-12, thanks to a 64-yard touchdown catch by Dennis McKinnon. Still don't know how McKinnon saw the pass.
