NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas asked the good folks from ESPN Stats & Information to break down the number of times each team around the league has used the Wildcat formation. And here's what they found.
The Dolphins have run twice as many plays (80) out of the Wildcat as any other team. Those tricky Browns are next at 32 and the Eagles check in third in the NFL with 24 plays out of the Wildcat formation. Considering all the fuss over Michael Vick's signing, that seems like a stunningly low number. The Eagles attempted to let Vick throw one downfield out of the Wildcat on Sunday in San Diego but he threw the ball a little behind DeSean Jackson, who should've made the catch.
According to Stats & Information, the Cowboys are fifth in the league in terms of Wildcat plays with seven. Tashard Choice had a touchdown run out of the Wildcat against the Eagles in Week 8. The Giants and Redskins didn't show up in the chart, in part, because they haven't used the Wildcat formation at all this season.
I'm sure Skins playcaller Sherm Lewis will get to it at some point, though. I just thought it was an interesting little chart and wanted to pass it along to you. Feel free to pass it around the office.
