As many of you know, the "Monday Night Football" game between the Steelers and Redskins will take place near our nation's capital on the eve of the presidential election. I've just been informed that candidates John McCain and Barack Obama will have one last chance to address the American people -- on the MNF halftime show with Chris Berman. No, I'm serious.
Each candidate has agreed to tape an interview earlier in the day Monday, and it will run at approximately 10:15 p.m. ET. No word on whether ESPN will run highlights of Sunday's games while the candidates speak.
"We worked with our partners at the NFL to schedule a 'Monday Night Football' game in Washington on this special night, and this presents a unique opportunity for John McCain and Barack Obama to reflect upon the last few months and address a large primetime audience on the final day of the campaigns," said Norby Williamson, ESPN executive vice president, production.
