Anyone wondering why a team favored at home by more than one touchdown would feel the need to open the game with an onside kick? I'm right there with you. Moments after the Eagles' 27-24 win over the Redskins on Sunday, coach Andy Reid was asked about that decision -- one that backfired.
"Obviously, not the right thing," Reid told reporters after the game. "They played a five-man line. I thought we could sneak one in there. That was wrong. Although it looked that way, it was not pulling it out of the sky. If I think it’s there, we’re going to go for it. Sometimes you’re going to make it and sometimes you’re not."
It's not the right thing because you shouldn't need trickeration at the start of the game in order to beat the Redskins. Reid basically spoon-fed the Redskins some early confidence -- and the Eagles barely recovered. What do you think of Reid's decision?
